HOW TO REACH US

BY CAR

Many tourists come to the island with their own car, to move around freely. This is possible but requires a combination of road and sea travel. Here are detailed directions to plan your trip to the departure port:

From the North: The most common route is the A12 Genova-Livorno motorway, taking the Rosignano exit. Continue on the SS1 (Variante Aurelia) towards Grosseto and follow
the signs for Piombino Marittima/Port.

From the North-East: For those coming from, for example, Bologna, the recommended route is the A1 motorway to Florence. Then the A11 to Pisa Nord. Finally, the A12
southward, exiting at Rosignano. Continue on the SS1 towards Grosseto and follow the signs for Piombino Marittima/Port.

From the South: The A12 Rome-Grosseto motorway is the best option. Continue on the SS1 towards Livorno until the exit for Piombino Marittima/Port.

From Piombino Marittima you can embark to one of the following ports: Portoferraio, Rio, and Cavo. You can find us at this address: Strada Della Falconaia n° 145/147 – 57039 Rio (LI). The residence is located in Bagnaia, a seaside resort on the border between the municipal territories of Portoferraio and Rio. From any landing, the journey is short (20/30 minutes by car, all provincial road) and the directions are clear. So finding the way is simple.

In any case, if you paste the following “plus code” into Google Maps’ search field, your smartphone will easily guide you to your destination: R968+R6. This system is simple and versatile, as it works whether you are online or not. It means you can use it even if you’ve run out
of phone credit.

BY TRAIN

To embark on the ferries to the Island of Elba, whether coming from the North or the South, you must reach the port of Piombino. It is easily accessible by train or bus, as both Piombino Marittima Railway Station and the bus station are located in front of the ferry terminals.

Train schedules are available on the Trenitalia website. ATTENTION: enter Piombino Marittima as the arrival station (NOT Piombino). Some train lines end their journey at Campiglia Marittima. From there, you must take a bus from Autolinee Toscane, which in just 20 minutes takes you to Piombino Marittima. Alternatively, you can reach Piombino Marittima by taxi.

From Piombino Marittima you can embark to one of the following ports: Portoferraio, Rio, and Cavo.
Once you arrive at the destination dock, you can reach our facility by taxi (calling the number +39 3931739317), renting a car (where available), or contacting us to request a transfer.

Arrive early: Try to reach the port at least an hour before your ferry’s scheduled departure, especially in high season, to avoid delays or problems with boarding.
